New Shoji Lamp added to the Portfolio

I recently added a totally new style lamp to my collection which again adds a little Asian flair to the Rockland collection. The Rockland Shoji Lamp   follows the tradition of using authentic Shoji Rice paper. All four sides provide a soft white light through the Shoji Paper. The beautiful combination of Cherry with Walnut give it a unique look using these different woods. The lamp has three light level settings, a low setting that works as a night light, a medium level for general lighting and a full on for those occasions needing a large amount of illumination. There are four candelabra sockets that can use either 25 or 40 watt bulbs. The lamp comes with a 10′ cord so there should almost never be a need for an extension cord. All electrical components are UL/CSA approved.

New Bedroom Furniture pieces added to my Collection

I recently added a new furniture design to me portfolio of work. I call it the Rockland series. The new pieces are a Bed and Nightstand. The Rockland Bed shown in Cherry has beautiful Walnut inlays on the header, footer and the rails. The bed mixes the tradition of the classic American Mission style with just a hint of Asian style.  The Rockland Nightstand compliments the bed with its elegant design. It is shown in Cherry as well with a beautiful Walnut handle for the drawer. A single shelf is shown in this design. Other configurations of multiple drawers or and enclosed compartment with a door can be designed for you. Dressers and Chests designed to your needs can be build to match the style of the Rockland look.  Please inquire with Rob.

Exhibit at Center for Furniture Craftmanship

I have been selected to display my Quoddy Hope Chest in the Maine Woods 2008 exhibit. This hope chest is unique in design using a rare piece of Birdseye Maple with a small amount of spalted wood. The piece has been created to use the bridseye in individual panels the wrap around the sides and front of the hope chest. The panels are pieced together to match from left to right around the chest. Many have said there is a scene in the wood on this hope chest, a pond, maybe a crocodile. You be the judge. The exhibit will be from November 29, 2007 through March 14, 2008 at the Messler Gallery on the campus of the Center for Furniture Craftmanship. Rob is so please to be one of the finalists among a total of sixty-six other Maine woodworkers. A total of 138 pieces were entered as a part of the competition judged by Garrett Hack and Beth Ireland. Come by and see my Quoddy Hope Chest and other works by Maine Craftsman. The Quoddy Hope Chest is complimented by a matching queen size Quoddy Sleigh Bed also done with a unique piece of birdseye maple for the head and footer board panels. Please see the latest news letter from the MWPA www.mwpa.org/Splinters/Splinters1107.pdf . There is also a brief article in the the MaineCoastNow about the Maine Wood 2008 exhibition.
